Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo), May 02, 2023 – The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo His Excellency Félix Antoine Tshisékédi Tshilombo received in audience the President of Chad’s opposition party “Le Réformateur”, Mr. Succès MASRA in the presence of the President of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Ambassadorr Gilberto Da Piedade Verissimo, of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the UN Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA) his Excellency Abdou Abarry and the Congolese Minister of Tourism and ECCAS special envoy for the Chad crisis Didier Mazenga Mukanzu.
On the agenda were issues relating to reconciliation between the government and the opposition in Chad. Visibly satisfied with the exchanges, Mr. Succès MASRA said on leaving the audience that he had discussed with President Tshisékédi issues relating to the reconciliation of Chadians for a return to true democracy at the end of the transition in Chad with a government chosen by the Chadian people.
The Congolese head of state is the Facilitator appointed by his ECCAS peers in the Chad crisis.
On behalf of the vast majority of Chadians, he went to “present the Head of State with proposals designed to bring about national reconciliation in his country”. The DR Congo, through its President, has come to the aid of Chad,” Mr. MASRA said. For his part, Didier Mazenga Mukanzu, Congolese Minister of Tourism and ECCAS special envoy for the Chad crisis, indicated that it was a question of President Félix Antoine Tshisékédi Tshilombo to receive the Chadian politician as part of his mission as facilitator in the political crisis in this Central African country: to exchange views with all the parties involved in this crisis, those who took part in the national dialogue as well as those who did not, with a view to national reconciliation.
