“The Paris INFRAWEEK 2020 Platform”: An opportunity for the mobilization of financing resources for integrative projects of ECCAS.

Paris (French Rep.), From 05 to 08 October 2020– The Commissioner for Regional Planning and Infrastructures of the ECCAS Commission, HE MFOULA EDJOMO Marie Thérèse Chantal, leading a delegation made up of the Director of Cooperation and Resource Mobilization and the Head of the Water and Energy Service, represented HE Ambassador Gilberto da Piedade VERISSIMO at the “Paris INFRAWEEK 2020 Platform”, which was held in the French capital.
This mission aimed to find financial resources for the financing of integrative projects of ECCAS in the area of infrastructure. During this deployment, the Commissioner of ECCAS followed the exchange of information and views, and in particular made a presentation of the strategic infrastructure projects of ECCAS in the sectors of Energy, ICT, transport (road, rail, river navigation, air safety) on the basis of the Consensual Master Plan for Transport in Central Africa (PDTC –AC) and PIDA (Program for the Development of Infrastructures in Africa), the CEMAC-CEEAC white paper and PACDICE ( Consensual Action Plan for the Deployment of Electronic Communications Infrastructures in Central Africa).
On the occasion of this meeting, the ECCAS Commissioner had talks with technical and financial partners, investors from the public and private sectors, and the media, with a view to attracting investment and funding for the achievement of these major projects such as the Route – Rail Bridge on the Congo River between Brazzaville and Kinshasa and the extension of the railway between Kinshasa and ILEBO, as well as the development of the OUESSO – BANGUI-NDJAMENA Road and navigation on the Congo River and its tributaries OUBANGUI and SANGHA which were to be presented to the Brazzaville round table, initially scheduled for March 19, 2020, but postponed due to the COVID-19 health crisis.
In the same vein, she mentioned in a non-exhaustive way, the projects resulting from the PACDICE, the hydroelectric development projects such as INGA – CABINDA-Pointe Noire (RDC- ANGOLA – CONGO), the construction project of the dam CHOLLET and associated lines (Cameroon-CONGO-GABON-RCA), or cross-border electrification interconnections between Rwanda and Burundi, the DRC and Angola.
On the sidelines of the proceedings, the Commissioner was received in audience by HE Gilbert ONDONGO, Minister of State, Congolese Minister of Economy, Industry and Public Portfolio and Professor DJIENA WEMBOU, Permanent Secretary of Economic and Financial Reforms of CEMAC (PREF-CEMAC), in order to inquire about the terms of involvement of ECCAS in the Round Table of 16 and 17/11/2020, ECCAS having carried out the studies of six of the eleven projects integrators that CEMAC intends to present during this round table.
Also, ECCAS intends to present during this important meeting, to Technical and Financial Partners, its projects in various sectors.
