The President of the ECCAS Commission contacts the outgoing management team

Libreville (Gabonese Rep.), August 24, 2020-Three weeks after their designation by the 17th ordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government held by videoconference on July 30, 2020, the management team of the Commission of Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) set foot on Gabonese soil, the country hosting the headquarters of the regional institution.
The first audience was that granted by the Secretary General of ECCAS, His Excellency Ahmad Allam-mi to the President of the Commission of ECCAS, His Excellency, Gilberto Da Piedade VERISSIMO, accompanied by the Vice-President, Madame TATCHOUOP BELOPE Francisca.
During the exchange which lasted almost an hour, the two interlocutors addressed the hot issues of the news and those relating to the life of the community namely, 1) the Coronavirus pandemic and its repercussions on development socioeconomic of our States, 2) the Institutional Reform of ECCAS and the expectations of the populations of the Region on the advantages and successes that ECCAS could achieve during this new era, without 3) forgetting the bottlenecks restrictions that hinder the proper functioning of the institution, in particular the problem of non-payment of statutory contributions.
In the second hour, the delegation of the ECCAS Commission was received by the mandated staff. Almost all of the mandated staff and almost all the commissioners took part in this second meeting:
- • Mr. DJIME ADOUM, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security;
- • Mr. TABUNA Honoré, Commissioner for the Environment, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Rural Development;
- • Mrs NGAKONO Marie Thérèse Chantal marries MFOULA EDJOMO, Commissioner for Regional Planning and Infrastructures;
- • Madame KAPINGA-YVETTE NGANDU, Commissioner for Gender Promotion, Human and Social Development.
- • A single Commissioner is expected in Libreville in the coming days, Mr. KANIMBA François, Commissioner for the Common Market, Economic, Monetary and Financial Affairs.
During this meeting, the commissioners were informed on various issues including those relating to their administrative situation, family situation and the next swearing-in ceremony with the current President of ECCAS, His Excellency Mr. Ali Bongo Ondimba, August 31, 2020.
The Secretary General of ECCAS and the President of the Commission welcomed the cordial and peaceful atmosphere in which these first contacts are taking place. For His Excellency, Ambassador Ahmad Allam-mi, it is a question of leaving to his successor a clear legacy, free from all prejudices and qualified personnel ready to serve the Community. Following in the footsteps of his predecessor, His Excellency Gilberto Da Piedade VERISSIMO, assured his audience of his firm will to work for the influence of ECCAS by relying on nationals of the ECCAS area, endowed with good expertise and flawless self-sacrifice.
