ECCAS: The President of the Commission speaks with the Member Heads of State

Brazzaville and Luanda, October 19, 2010-The President of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) His Excellency Gilberto Da Piedade Vérissimo began today a journey through the capitals of the Member States of his space community. He is accompanied by the envoy of President Ali Bongo Ondimba, current President of ECCAS, the Gabonese Minister of Foreign Affairs, President of the Council of Ministers of ECCAS, His Excellency Pacôme Moubelet Boubeya.

The purpose of this journey is on the one hand, to get in touch with the Heads of State for the first time since his appointment at the head of the ECCAS Commission and on the other hand to consult their agendas in order to schedule the holding of the 18th ordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government which will be held in person in Libreville in the Gabonese Republic, probably in November 2020. And it is during this summit of heads of state that the President Ali Bongo Ondimba will hand over the apron to his counterpart Denis Sassou Nguesso, the next President in office of ECCAS.

During the exchanges with the heads of state, Ambassador Gilberto Da Piedade Vérissimo declined a part of his vision for ECCAS during the five years of his mandate, namely to contribute to the resolution of internal conflicts with a view to the final return. for Peace and Security in the ECCAS area, particularly in the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also spoke of the need to support the Republic of Chad in its fight against Boko Haram.
